Local groups

Local support groups and charities based in and around Surrey, Sussex and London.

All these groups are, at least in part, for families with children with Down's Syndrome and offer some ‘family support’ (social chats, information dispersal, etc.)

Formerly The Down's Syndrome Association's London Branch, now an independent entity offering a support service for parents in London.

'Little Eden' garden in Sutton, open every Monday from 2pm to 6pm for children with additional or special needs.
3   Link   Stepping Stones
Provides coffee mornings, group speech therapy sessions, playball sessions, resource library, training sessions, social outings, support for local hospitals and new parents. Parents and Carers of children with DS 0-16y; members from N Hants, Surrey & Berkshire

Provides monthly support meetings on the first Saturday of every month from 10-12 where the whole family is welcome. Annual family outing and Christmas party. New parent one-to-one support. Also provides preschool developmental groups for children up to school age; after-school drama; speech and language therapy; educational conferences; social events. All families with a child with DS from birth. No geographical boundaries.

Provides parent support; sessions to practise speech and language skills; resource library; play opportunities for under 5s with DS, their parents and siblings. Based in Croydon but no geographical boundaries.

Provides family social events; adult social and support events; a quarterly newsletter; some financial support to the local paediatric therapy team for equipment and toys; some funds for individual bids for specialist equipment. For the support of young children with moderate to severe complex needs, living in Surrey and the neighbouring London boroughs of Croydon, Kingston-upon-Thames, Merton and Sutton.

Provides inclusive sports and arts activities for disabled children and their siblings; social events. These run in term-time after school and at the weekends, as well as one-off sessions during the holidays. Horsham District and outside the District. Ages 5-19 (younger children join in the coffee mornings and social events).

Provides play sessions, arts and music, support and advice, counselling for adults, SEN advocacy, benefit advice surgeries, talks & workshops, children’s osteopathy clinic, relax and recharge days, sibling workshops, behaviour and sleeping clinics. For any child with additional needs and their families in Richmond and surrounding areas.
